If excellence and thoughtful design are important to you, then
we may be the company for you. We believe that we provide a service
to the bike community by making clothing that really works Consequently,
we stand behind every product we make.
In 1997 folks who spend a lot of time outdoors started Showers
Pass Clothing. We bike for sport and transportation, whitewater
kayak, and Nordic ski. We have extensive experience mountain climbing
and backpacking too. We expect our gear to perform as advertised
and last for several seasons of heavy use.
Showers Pass is in the mountains about 20 miles inland from Eureka,
CA. This part of California is where the great redwood forests
grow, and the weather is highly variable because the coast is
exposed to storms from the North Pacific. The county
roads near Showers Pass offer great bike riding, but if you go,
you better be prepared. We had some great riding there but also got caught
out in some wicked rainstorms without adequate gear. After one
wet winter ride we decided that we needed a better bike jacket.
Climbing or kayaking clothing often uses much better fabric and
design than that available for cycling. In 1997, we had a closet
full of bike jackets, but none worked as well as we believed possible.
We believe that cycling clothing should have the following characteristics:
- Light weight
- Compact
- Durable
- Technical fabrics were appropriate
- Attractive and functional
- Great ventilation

We believe that bicycles are environmentally responsible transportation.
Bicycles are fun to ride and provide exercise that helps keep
you healthy. Having good bike clothing can make riding year-round
more practical and enjoyable. We believe that we are helping more
folks ride comfortably and often by providing functional, lightweight,
high quality clothing.
We design our products in the Pacific Northwest, and source production world-wide. Our contractors ensure good working conditions and pay the prevailing wage. We are more concerned about quality than low price, and we convey this to our factories, so they do not take short-cuts when sewing for us. We try to minimize resource consumption
(such as paper catalogues) and recycle or reuse shipping materials
as much as possible. We support local bike coalitions through
product and cash donations. We support national bike access organizations,
such as the International Mountain Bike Association, through volunteer
work and cash donations. We help sponsor bike rides that raise
money for charity, such as the Boys and Girls Club and the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society. If you have read this far, we encourage
you to do the same!
